“Counting of a Different Kind” (posted here April 15, 2011) is a piece I wrote about my first successful Omer counting, when I was pregnant with my triplets. In it I share how Omer counting in 2008 became a sort of spiritual practice for me, though it felt more like a survival practice at the time.
Last year, at the end of two consecutive winters at home with high risk respiratory babies, I devoted the Omer period to writing. And I shared my spiritual journaling practice with you in the form of this blog, the OOCC- Online Omer Counting Community. I stayed up late every night, commemorating the counting with OOCC. I made the commitment and enjoyed what I created. I took risks being real, and explicit, and I invited your response. I tried to offer spiritual journaling questions for you, along with meditations and other tools for you at home (or on the road) usage.
